Macalloy provided Tension Bars to this award winning restoration project based in London
Macalloy Tension Bar systems have been used throughout the refurbishment of the well known Cutty Sark, which is now open to the public to view in Greenwich, London.
The Tie Rods are used to connect the 900 ton vessel to the dry dock wall. Inside the hull, Macalloy Tie Bars are used to provide further structural support and maintain its original shape following the fire damage that Cutty Sark suffered in 2007.
Macalloy Tension Rods are also used to suspend the steel bridge that leads visitors from the top deck of the vessel and back into the visitor centre. There is a glass and steel structure containing a stairwell that is braced using Macalloy Tie Bars and features a Macalloy connection disc.
Finally, Macalloy Tension Bars are used to suspend a seated viewing area from a steel joist.
